Why DeVry?
I chose DeVry because it has smaller classes, it’s very hands-on and you have a fast path to graduation and getting a good job. The classes are sometimes as small as five other students and sometimes they get as big as 30 students, so it’s never overwhelming.

An education that works.
Some universities, the big traditional ones, make you take a lot of classes that will never impact your future career. At DeVry everything you study will be a part of your work someday and the professors make a point of connecting the knowledge to work. It’s easier to do your schoolwork when you know it’s going to definitely be a part of your career at some point.

One-on-one support.
I really like the ability to go directly to a professor at DeVry and get one-on-one tutoring. I’m the kind of person who tends to have a lot of questions so this kind of relationship with the instructors works great for me. They can be very helpful because they’re totally committed.

A choice that fits my needs.
When choosing a college, you have to find a school that meets your individual learning style. Whoever you are and how you learn best should match the way the school works. You spend a lot of time and money going for your degree and if it doesn’t work for you, that’s all down the drain. I feel like I’ve made the right choice coming to DeVry.

DeVry is a year-round program and it takes about three years to get a bachelors degree. I expect to graduate in 2008 with a BSBA degree in accounting. You do get several weeks off between semesters, and that’s enough to catch up with family and things. I like this schedule because I just keep going and never get too far away from my education.

Interesting people and new friends.
I don’t have a huge amount of time for activities outside of school, family and work. I like to play soccer and hang out with friends when I’m not studying or working as a barista. It’s been really easy to make friends at DeVry. Also, there are a lot of smart people on campus and they can be very helpful when you need help with something.

DeVry helped put me together with several roommates and an off-campus apartment. It’s really better than a traditional dorm situation because it’s your own and you have all the features of an apartment. It’s great being very close to the campus and stores because nobody wants to walk very far in the 115 degree Phoenix heat.

The best part: The ability to pursue my dream.
My professors at DeVry have taught me to really stick with my learning and not let go. I’m very, very focused now. College is just too important to me to mess around.

Someday I may want to go for my master’s degree, but I definitely want to start saving my money so I can start my own business. That’s my goal.
